Course Description: 3-Dimensional Art will emphasize a higher level of artistic craftsmanship with a focus on drawing and painting in various mediums. Students will begin to master dramatic shading and modeling techniques depicted in the works of the old masters. Students will also be exploring a variety of artists from different cultures and periods of time. This course will prepare the art enthusiast for high school level visual fine arts courses.

Develop an understanding and respect for a variety of artist from different cultures and periods of time.
Master the use of painting, drawing, printing, and various other media throughout the year.
Create a final product incorporating at least two techniques mastered during the year accompanied by a one page written reflection of themselves and their artwork.

HENRY--CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:
RESPECT Respect of materials-using the materials properly and returning the room to the same condition as it was when they came in. I work hard to keep a clean room for them and they should respect me. With that, the students should also respect their environment and classes who are coming after them. Respect themselves and others.
NO CELL PHONES/IPODS ETC. The only time that a cell phone or an Ipod is allowed to be out is with teacher permission.
NO FOOD OR DRINKS Food or drinks could cause a problem because they can be spilled onto other students' artwork or even be mixed with harmful products causing health hazards. Students should not eat or drink in my classroom.
POSITIVE PARTICIPATION Students are encouraged to converse with their peers as well as provide them with helpful and useful feedback-whether it is during a gallery walk or even just in everyday class. All students will work silently for the 1st half of the class period and may earn the privileges of talking quietly for the 2nd half of class. This ensures that all students are aware of the project and all expectations.
Classroom Policies: Attendance: Students are expected to be present and prompt. If the student is absent they will be expected to ask about the materials they missed. If the student is absent on a day that a project is due, that product is due the day that they return. This is the students' responsibility.
Grading: Students will be graded on their in class participation, homework/sketches, final products, and Artists of the Week. Any late projects will be accepted up to 5 days late, with a "Late Work" form attached, but the student will not be able to receive a grade higher than a 70. **All students have the opportunity to come in before school and during lunch to complete their work on time. Assignments can be taken home to work on as well.
Art/ist of the Week: Students will be expected to complete their "Art/ist of the Week" assignment every week. This assignment will be presented at the beginning of the week and due at the end of the week. These assignments will not always be on a specific artist. The assignment can vary from week to week depending on what art or artist we are working on and what sketches may need to be completed.
Grading: Grading Scale: (2D & 3D) A - 100-90% Final Projects & Presentations: 95% B - 89-80% Soft Skills & Participation: 5% C - 79-70% D - 69-60% F -59%-below
